This book is the ultimate reference guide to thousands of planemakers
Since the first edition was published in the 1990s, A Guide to the Makers of American Wooden Planes has been the source for identifying planemakers. Now in its fifth edition, GAWP, as it's often called, has 4,590 biographies and 6,160 maker marks dating from the early 1700s to the early 1900s.
GAWP editor Tom Elliott and Pat Lasswell, the editor at Early American Planes, have made the book available for free: https://www.earlyamericanplanes.com/book-of-planes-by-tom-eliot.
